Here's what you get

  • A write-up that itemizes

Every part of the solar job on its own line, so nobody has to guess what it covers.

  • Photos up front

Your array, wiring and roof shot before we touch a thing.

  • Panels kept in order

Each one tagged with where it sat and stored until the roof is done.

  • New flashing on the mounts

Every mount that goes back into your new roof gets fresh flashing.

  • Proof it runs

We power it back up and check the output against what it made before.

What Can We Do for Your Harvey Roof?

Most folks call us for one of five reasons. Maybe the roof's shot and the panels are on top of it. Maybe it's a storm claim. Maybe you're the roofer. Here's the rundown.

How Does It Work? Four Steps.

  1. You call, we talk it over

How many panels? When's the roofer coming? Is there a claim? Is the system paid off and yours, or does a leasing company own it? Leasing company owns it? Dig out that agreement or ring them up first, since they may have a say. You'll get a firm number on the phone, usually within 48 hours.

  2. We shoot it and write it up

Photos of the array, the wiring and the roof, plus a reading of what it's producing. For a claim, you get the itemized write-up to hand the adjuster. Dates get set with your roofer, and if a permit or a utility notice is needed where you live, we get that going.

  3. Off it comes

Power gets shut down the right way first. Then panels, racking and conduit come off, every panel gets tagged with its spot, everything's counted and it all goes into storage while the roof gets done.

  4. Back on it goes

New mounts and new flashing at every spot we go through the roof. Panels go back where they were, everything's hooked back up, and we check it's producing like before. You get the paperwork.

Why Do Harvey Homeowners Call Us?

Simple. We do the solar part of a roof job honest and on paper, so you know what you're paying for and what you got.

  • Quotes broken out item by item

Taking it off, storing it, putting it back, new flashing, permits, any parts. Each one gets its own line, and you okay it before we start. No mystery totals.

  • Your panels handled like they're ours

Every panel and rail is tagged and stored away from bumps, weather and sticky fingers until it goes back on the roof.

  • Photos before the first bolt

Before a single panel budges, we snap the layout and the wire runs and jot down what the system is producing. It goes back the way it was, and you can see the before and after yourself.

  • Not done till it's running

When the panels are back up, we power the system on, test it and check it against the reading we took before. Then we call it done.

Where Do We Work Around Harvey?

Harvey sits where I-294 and I-80 meet in south Cook County, with Halsted Street running north and south through town and Sibley Boulevard and 159th Street cutting across it. It's a city of older bungalows, ranches and two-story homes, and a fair number of those roofs carry solar that'll need to come off when the shingles give out. We work all over Harvey and the towns right around it, from Dixmoor, Riverdale and Dolton to South Holland, Posen, Markham, Hazel Crest, Homewood, Blue Island and Robbins.

Old houses, new houses

Older homes with low roofs, newer ones with steeper pitches. We figure out how to get the panels off yours before we show up.

Storm claims all over

When a storm rolls through the south suburbs, it hits a lot of these towns at once. Our write-ups work the same in every one of them.

Storm Claim Stuck on the Solar?

The solar part needs its own numbers, and vague numbers slow claims down. Give us a call and we'll write it up item by item, with photos, and work around your roofer's dates.

What Do Folks Usually Ask Us?

Here are the questions we hear the most, with straight answers.

What's a critter guard, and do I need one?

It's a wire mesh that runs around the edge of your panels and closes the gap underneath. If birds or squirrels have been getting under there, you probably want one, because nests hold wet junk against the roof and squirrels chew wires. It's easiest to put on during a detach and reset, since we're already up there.

How much does it run to take solar panels off and put them back?

Depends on how many panels you've got, how steep and tall the roof is, how the racking and conduit are laid out and whether your town wants a permit. Every house is different, so we don't throw out a one-size number. Call with your panel count and roof date and you'll have a firm quote on the phone, usually within 48 hours.

Are the solar mounts going to mess with my new roof warranty?

Your roof warranty comes from your roofer and the shingle maker, so their terms are what count, and it's smart to ask them. On our end, every mount on the new roof gets new flashing and is sealed to the roofing manufacturer's details. And you keep all of your original solar manufacturer warranties.

Do I need a permit to take my panels off and put them back?

Some towns want one for the reinstall and some don't. If your town or the utility wants paperwork for it, you'll hear about it on our first call, and we start it early so your roofer isn't held up.

While the panels are off, can I add more, move them or get a battery?

We don't do that kind of work. Our job is taking your system down and putting it back the way it was, in the same spots. That keeps the reset simple and gets you producing again like before.

Where do my panels go while the roof's getting done?

Into storage, tagged and counted. Every panel is labeled with the spot it came from, and the racking and hardware are logged too, so it all goes back right. They stay out of the weather and out of harm's way until the new roof is ready.

What if a panel's broken or turns out bad when it comes off?

We take photos and check the system before we pull anything, so problems that were already there get written down. If something turns up during the job, we stop and tell you before anything goes back on. You decide what happens next, and you still have your original manufacturer warranties.
